Hello again, and welcome back to the Maui Barefoot Brief.
We’re really excited to be doing this and to see it starting to grow. The idea is still simple: share some of the best parts of Maui and keep everyone up to date on fun happenings around the island for locals and visitors alike.
As this grows, we’re also hoping to start stirring up some fun meetups and community events in the near future. Stay tuned for more on that soon.
SPRING FORWARD
Spring on Maui is one of the quieter transitions on the island. Whale season starts winding down, the hills are still green from winter rain, and the trade winds usually start settling back into their more familiar rhythm. It’s also one of those times of year where you can sometimes experience multiple versions of Maui in a single day — sunny beaches in South Maui, misty Upcountry mornings, and passing rain showers on the North Shore all within an hour drive.
One thing many visitors don’t realize is how much the seasons subtly change life on Maui, even without the dramatic temperature shifts most places experience. Certain fruit starts showing up more regularly at roadside stands, the ocean changes, sunsets shift, and even different flowers start blooming around the island. Spring tends to be one of the prettiest times of year here — especially after a good rain.

DON’T FORGET
Maui weather can change fast this time of year. It’s not unusual to go from sunshine in Kihei to rain in Haʻikū or thick fog Upcountry within a single afternoon — so if you’re exploring the island, it’s always worth keeping a light jacket or towel in the car.
Also, after the recent rain, waterfalls and roadside greenery are looking especially good right now.

That’s it for this week’s Maui Barefoot Brief. We’d love to hear from you — if there’s something happening around the island or something you’d like to see here, just hit reply and let us know. Community tips and feedback are always welcome. See you next week! Aloha!
